Chattering Teeth
This series of porcelain slip-cast Chattering Teeth are based on the 1950s toy of the same name. Their image shows up across both the Parachute Games and Binocular Viewpoint Paintings as a symbol for the concept of “censorship through noise”. “Censorship through noise” is a propaganda tactic where you flood the social sphere with nonsense, conspiracy theories and misinformation so consistently that it becomes difficult to locate the original source or discern fact from fiction. Left with a disillusioned public, an authoritarian figure is able to offer themselves as the “necessary stabilizing force” by shallowly alluding to various threads from this illogical web of ghost stories.
